Market Update

June started with a mood of optimism and excitement as Diamond Jubilee celebrations took place up and down the country.

Here in Poynton that “feel good” factor has continued with being able to announce that, after ten years in our existing premises, Richard Lowth & Co will be moving to much bigger premises at 6 London Road North in the next few weeks.

The new premises will allow us to expand our sales, lettings and financial services business and is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the local market.

This move coincides with the end of two years of major road works in Poynton and we feel that this gives a clear signal that both ourselves and Poynton are “open for business”!

As always there has been much media coverage and speculation about the property market and the possible impact of what is happening in the "Eurozone". Whenever there is this type of speculation, there is a tendency for people to “sit on their hands” and “wait and see” what happens.

The reality is that the market remains very positive and we are arranging good levels of transactions in both sales and lettings. With the population growing and a lack of new homes being built, the likely position is that property values will hold up well and demand will remain strong.

Locally, there is the possibility of a large new homes development in Woodford. Naturally there will be some resistance and objection but overall, there is a need to build more homes both for purchase and on an affordable rental basis.

The challenges of today’s market make our role as estate agents even more important as we manage to create and negotiate transactions through our understanding of our client’s and customer’s needs and experience and skill in generating win, win situations for both parties.

Selling or lettings a property is not just about marketing. Although this is important, it is the ability to actually create successful sales and lettings that is vital.

The Summer months will, hopefully, see some improving weather and we can all look forward to the Olympics and some more British success. It also means that properties can be well displayed with outside features such as gardens looking their best. Lighter evenings also provide more time and opportunity for viewings.

The housing market, of course, operates 365 days a year and at Richard Lowth and Company we are demonstrating that with the right commitment, investment and hard work, the opportunity to move is currently a good one.
